Heightened Cybersecurity
MyITAssistant increased security measures and services as heightened cybercriminal activities are warned by Secret Service.
|
MyITAssistant is taking serious action to these ongoing threats. Internally we have adopted Center of Internet Security (CIS) controls to better defend against attacks to achieve greater overall cybersecurity defenses to protect our clients. Many of these measures have already been implemented and more in the pipeline.
|
- We encourage clients to be more aware and report any suspicious activities to [email protected] .
- Do not allow anyone to remotely connect to computers unless you know without a doubt its safe. If in doubt, allow MyITAssistant to review the connection first.
- We encourage clients to update any password more than 6-months old.
- Be extra cautious of email links and attachments before clicking them.

2FA Now Required
Effective immediately, all clients accessing MyITAssistant Support Center and Client Portal will be required to use two-factor authentication (2FA). We understand the frustrations using 2FA, however its vital that we impose these security measures to protect all clients.

Remote Support Limitations
|
MyITAssistant uses Take Control to securely connect to client computers. Take Control is only available to computers that have MyITAssistant Managed Protection services on them. Do to heightened conditions we will no longer connect remotely to computers outside our services. This change is to ensure our clients remain safe.

MyITAssistant Cuts Windows 7 Support
If your computer is running Windows 7, MyITAssistant software is no longer be able to securely protect computers with Managed Protection services. Security risks have exponentially grown beyond our ability to securely protect. We encourage at minimal a free upgrade to Windows 10 provided by Microsoft.

NOTE: For those running Windows 8 & 8.1, Microsoft has scheduled its End-Of-Life (EOL) January 10, 2023.
|

Mac Device Management
We have been working closely with Apple to securely enroll our services as a Trusted service provider. Over the next several weeks we will be pushing out an enhanced upgrade to Apple computers. This update will authorize our services as trusted. In the past users have been plagued by popup windows requesting permission changes for our services to function properly. This will resolve these types of issues in future.

Email & Backup Prices
Beginning January 1st, 2021 several email and backup storage services will have price increases do to partner price increases and 2019 service provider tax laws. New rates only effect the following services.

- Private Email: $5/mth/per account
- Private Email Plus: $9/mth/per account
- Office365 Email: $5/mth/per account
- Professional Backup Storage: $0.55/GB

Antivirus Programs
For the past 30+ years antivirus programs have been around, protecting our computers from malicious and vicious activities. We have come to know the "warm and fuzzies" and confidence it brings us when installed.
|
But did you know there are different kinds of antivirus programs?
|
- Traditional: Most antivirus programs today are what is referred to as Traditional - they have been around since the threat of viruses. They operate by human intervention to identify, diagnose, solve, test and then push a "signature" update to the antivirus program - for each and every infection found. Because of the large number of infections found daily, this type of antivirus has become antiquated.
- ERD: Is the next generation of antivirus, protecting systems in real-time without the need for human interaction. They self-learn, identify and adapt to threats.
* It's important to know not all ERD solutions are the same. Some primarily target malware, some viruses, and others a combination of everything.

NOTE: MyITAssistant offers both Traditional and ERD solutions. We encourage the switch to ERD. Our SentinelOne solution is more than a ERD, its an AI that hunts ALL threats.
