Internet – HTTPS Vulnerability

Recently a major security vulnerability was discovered, referred to as “Heartbleed”. This vulnerability has to do with secure communications that use OpenSSL, which is used by approximately 2/3’s of the worlds web servers. Depending on the version of OpenSSL being used, you might be at risk and should be aware of the problem.

When securely browsing the internet (logins, shopping, banking), HTTPS is used. HTTPS says that you are secure from your computer to the other end. The vulnerability is in this secure connection – an exploit that diminished the security of the connection.

We recommend taking caution to this issue and be aware that you may not be as secure as you think. Check with your online accounts and see if they patched the issues. Changing your passwords is always a good thing, and recommended using a strong password – keep and protect your privacy.
